    To help reduce smog and greenhouse gas emissions, Kaiser Permanente has installed 12 electric vehicle charging stations at our Woodland Hills Medical Center. The chargers are located throughout our parking structure and are available to patients, visitors, staff and physicians. Within two years, we plan for another 50 Kaiser Permanente locations across the country to host at least three stations. Read more

    A trial lawyer-backed special interest group, “Consumer Watchdog,” is pushing Proposition 45 on the November ballot. Prop 45 would give the state Insurance Commissioner sweeping new power over health care benefits, rates, co-payments and even treatment options for individuals and small groups. It would also create a massive, costly bureaucracy that overlaps with and conflicts with existing state bureaucracy regulating health care in California. Read more

    According to the Environmental Protection Agency, approximately 2.9 million tons of aluminum is discarded each year in the United States with the largest source being aluminum beverage containers. However, only 55% of that aluminum is recycled. The manufacturing of aluminum is energy intensive and produces greenhouse gas emissions that include perfluorocarbons, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide. * Read more

    May was skin cancer awareness and prevention month and was a great reminder that summer here. As families head outdoors for fun in sun, it’s the perfect time to talk about healthy skin and sun protection guidelines. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with over 2 million people diagnosed annually.     For years our parents told us “get good grades” and “do your homework”, we were lead to believe that would get us into a good college. After high school we completed college applications, applied for student loans and went on awkward road trips with mom or dad to check out some campuses. The mantra evolved because in college we believed good grades would lead to a good job. Four years later, if you got all your classes, we walked across the stage thinking about our next steps, going out into the world. Read more
