    I see it every day and I was happy to read some numbers to back it up: the San Fernando Valley is thriving in many ways. A recent report done for the Business Journal’s Economic Forecast Breakfast by California Lutheran University’s Center for Economic Research and Forecasting shows that the Valley’s economy grew an average of more than 4 percent annually between 2014 and 2018. That’s better than Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange counties. Read more

    I’m a father of two beautiful, energetic, smart kids, the oldest of whom is about to start kindergarten. As many of my fellow parents will know, this has felt like an overwhelming decision for my wife and me. I know - it’s ‘just’ kindergarten. But choosing the right school means choosing where my son will thrive and form the bedrock of his education, career, and life. I want to do the best by him that I possibly can. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean my neighborhood elementary school. I’m fortunate enough to have options, but many of my neighbors don’t have a choice but to send their children to the local LAUSD school. Read more

    The beginning of every year prompts a flood of new ideas from California’s state legislators, and obviously, I’m grateful to them. They’re keeping me and my staff employed, as businesses turn in desperation to advocacy groups around the state who can try and explain to legislators why their proposal would harm our economy and kill jobs. Clearly, you’d rather put that money towards growing your business, not paying me to talk to elected officials. But happily for me, it’s probably not going to change anytime soon. Read more

    Like any business-minded voter, I weigh each ballot proposition carefully to decide whether the benefit will outweigh any burden. As the leader of a business association, I can advocate and explain how each measure will impact jobs in the San Fernando Valley. Across the whole country, stakeholder groups can join together and exercise their First Amendment rights to build coalitions to drive voter opinion for or against ballot propositions. Read more
