Van Nuys, Calif. – On Wednesday, the Los Angeles City Council voted to move forward with the Los Angeles Convention Center expansion and the concurrent JW Marriot expansion. The expansion will create and sustain thousands of permanent jobs and will help the City meet its goal of 8,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center. Expanding the convention center will also make Los Angeles a competitive destination for major conventions from across the country.
    VICA President Stuart Waldman said:
“This project will attract visitors and business to the City of Los Angeles, driving economic growth across the region, and will generate long term revenue growth for the City’s general fund, benefitting all Angelenos.”
“With the current available space, Los Angeles cannot compete with other cities across the state, and the nation, for top dollar conventions. This expansion will finally allow the City to attract these lucrative conventions and the vital revenue they provide.”
“VICA applauds the Council for choosing to move forward with this convention center and hotel expansion and recognizing the benefits of this critical project.”
