  • Governor Schedules VICA’s Requested Dates for San Fernando Valley Special Elections

    • Share:
Last month, VICA wrote to Governor Brown requesting concurrent special election dates for Assembly Districts 39 (East San Fernando Valley) and 45 (West San Fernando Valley) to minimize the disruption for San Fernando Valley voters. Swift elections on concurrent dates will ensure that the San Fernando Valley regains full representation in the California State Assembly as quickly as possible.
VICA welcomes Governor Brown’s announcement that the special election for Assembly Districts 45 will be held on June 5, 2018, with the primary to be held on April 3, 2018. These elections are the same dates as the previously-announced special election for Assembly District 39.
The special election for Assembly District 54, which encompasses the western Los Angeles communities of Culver City, Westwood, Crenshaw, and Baldwin Hills will also be held on these dates.
Candidates for these seats must file between January 20 and February 8, 2018. VICA will continue to actively engage with candidates and make the voice of Valley businesses heard in these important races.
