Our Process:
VICA’s decision making process is based on our policy committees developing and recommending positions on a variety of legislative issues impacting business for consideration by the board of directors. Issues are assigned to the appropriate policy committee(s), and all ballot measures are also reviewed by the Government Affairs Committee. Your input is appreciated!

Aviation:
Develops positions associated with airports, air travel and commerce.

Meets Quarterly beginning in February on the first Wednesday of the month at noon. Hosted at the VNY Airport.

Chair: Paul Haney (Englander, Knabe & Allen)
Vice Chair: James Dunn (Airtel Plaza Hotel & Conference Center)

Education & Workforce:
Develops positions related to workforce development, preK-12 education and higher education.

Meets every other month beginning in February on the second Thursday of the month at 8:30 a.m. Held at the VICA Office.

Chair: Dana Martin (ITT Technical Institute)
Vice Chair: Brittny McCarthy (California State University Northridge)

Environment, Energy & Utilities:
Develops positions related to energy and environmental issues such as water, air quality, solid waste and others. Also coordinates regulatory workshops.

Meets every other month beginning in February on the first Thursday of the month at noon. Held at the VICA Office.

Entertainment:
Develops positions related to the entertainment industry and considers ways to keep film, television and commercial production in the State of California.

Meets quarterly beginning in January on the second Thursday of the month at 8 a.m. Held at the VICA Office.

Vice Chairs: Todd Lindgren (FilmL.A., Inc.), David Phelps (Association of Independent Commercial Producers)

  

Government Affairs:
Reviews any public policy issues at state, local and federal levels of government and all ballot initiatives.

Meets every month beginning in January on the third Wednesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Hosted at Providence Tarzana Medical Center.

Healthcare:
Develops positions on issues related to the delivery of health services, insurance and workers’ compensation. 

Meets every other month beginning in January on the third Thursday of the month at 8 a.m. Held at the VICA Office.

Vice Chair: Jaime Garcia (California Hospital Association)

International Affairs:
Develops positions on international trade, transnational relationships and international Law. 

Meets as needed beginning in February at 8 a.m. Held at the VICA Office.(Check VICA Calendar for meeting updates)

Vice Chair: Scott Lane (JP Morgan Chase)

Land Use:
Develops positions on large projects and general land use issues related to housing, zoning, construction and others.

Meets every other month beginning in February on the second Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. Hosted at
The Beverly Garland Holiday Inn.

Vice Chairs: Brad Rosenheim (Rosenheim & Associates), Amy Freilich (Armbruster Goldsmith & Delvac, LLP)

Membership:
Works with VICA staff to develop, identify and reach out to membership prospects. The committee also helps new members become familiar and comfortable at VICA programs, and helps existing members stay connected. 

Meets every other month beginning in January on the second Wednesday of the month at noon. Held at the VICA Office.

Transportation:
Develops positions on ground transportation, goods movement and public transportation. 

Meets every other month beginning in January on the second Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. Hosted at 
The Beverly Garland Holiday Inn.
